Psalm 95

⁸ Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands^(A) without anger or disputing.

¹⁹ When her owners realized that their hope of making money^(A) was gone, they seized Paul and Silas^(B) and dragged^(C) them into the marketplace to face the authorities.

²² The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silas, and the magistrates ordered them to be stripped and beaten with rods.^(A)

²⁵ About midnight^(A) Paul and Silas^(B) were praying and singing hymns^(C) to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

²⁹ The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas.^(A)

⁴ Some of the Jews were persuaded and joined Paul and Silas,^(A) as did a large number of God-fearing Greeks and quite a few prominent women.

⁵ But other Jews were jealous; so they rounded up some bad characters from the marketplace, formed a mob and started a riot in the city.^(A) They rushed to Jason’s^(B) house in search of Paul and Silas in order to bring them out to the crowd.^[a]
